Coast Banksia

Coast Banksia, or Banksia integrifolia, is a very common plant around here. Its natural range is roughly from Melbourne to Brisbane, and never very far from the coast.  It, along with 3 other banksia species, was collected by botanists Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander in 1770 at Botany Bay in New South Wales. This was on the Endeavour voyage, captained by James Cook. The botanical name Banksia was subsequently given by the Swedish botanist Linnaeus (the Younger).
