This afternoon Joanna and I continued our exploration of the Parish of Kirkmahoe, with a 4 mile circular road walk.

So much to discover, including the ruins of Duncow Mill (grain mill, cotton mill and blanket factory), Leap House (site of the former Glencarrick whisky distillery) and Newlands House, a castellated Victorian mansion which was used as a hospital for Norwegian soldiers in WW2.

We also passed the lovely Sunny Brae, former home and studio of the artist, water diviner and healer Cyril Wilson (see extra). The work outside his house is called "The Child of Day in the Womb of Night".

We drank our flasks of tea in the playground of Duncow School, where some other artists had drawn the wonderful mural in this photo :-)

todays walk: up to Newlands House with Joanna 4.3 miles
