HARE TODAY
This was the second excellent thing that happened to me today. The first was getting vaccinated this morning, having got up at the crack of quite-a-while-after-dawn. I took a box of chocs in for the team, and felt quite emotional afterwards. Despite being the eldest, I'm the last of my sisters to be done, including my Texas sister, but then most of them are doing useful jobs or voluntary work and I'm not.
Actually, there is a third thing, and that's the cake I made when I got home. I've just had the first piece and it's rather moreish.
I'll be out at the front gate at 9.30 tonight with a candle thinking about Sarah Everard and her poor family and friends and all the rest of us who have felt all our lives that it was incumbent on us to take precautions against being harrassed or worse, rather than incumbent on others not to do the harrassing (or worse). It turns out that she and I were contemporaries at our college in Durham University, although as a part-time mature student I didn't really get to know students on other courses and unfortunately don't remember her. She's younger than both my daughters, and I just can't imagine how her family must be feeling.
