Happy birthday!

A year and a day ago the WHO declared a pandemic. For a short while our family wondered whether to go ahead with the party we'd arranged for the following day in London to celebrate my mum's 89th birthday. We did and in retrospect were lucky that all of us emerged unscathed.

How very different her 90th has been today. We gathered, but on Zoom - something we'd never heard of this time last year but it did at least mean that family members in France and New Zealand could join us. 

I'm not making any predictions for her 91st.
