Dem bones

I’ve spoken to the consultant his understudy today and it’s not the news I was hoping for.

The CT scan shows that the bones are healing, but there’s still a visible fracture line at one of the sites.

He’s not overly concerned as he said it’s an area on the leg that’s notorious for slow healing due to a reduced blood supply in that region.

He reckons another 3 months with the cage. I told him I’m disappointed with that, as the guy I saw in January was confident it could come off in April.

The next stage is to get me in to adjust the frame (which they planned to do the last time I saw them in January!!) so that I get better movement in my ankle to allow me to walk a bit easier.

I lost the plot when he said this would be in 4-6 weeks time. It’s an absolute joke! Apparently, there are very limited face to face appointments being carried out so he said he understands my frustration but the diary is out of their control.
I know the time it takes to heal isn’t anything anyone can speed up, but the delay between appointments is shocking.

It’s been a month since I had the CT scan, so while I accept it’s not going to have healed overnight, I’m sure it may look better than it did a month ago.

I’m annoyed, frustrated and absolutely gutted it’s not better news. I’m desperate to get back to work and normality! :-(
