A little help with the pronunciation of a Latin name. It's Crocus cvijicii, named after a Yugoslavian botanist called Cvijic, and found wild in the mountains of that region and Northern Greece, where it flowers soon after snowmelt.
E.A. Bowles suggested that those in difficulty with this pronunciation should just sneeze it out or try playing it on the violin! Curiously, the great man nearly featured in todays blip by another means .... through a snowdrop called 'Augustus', his middle name.
