I was once a tree

I walk past this remaining stump of a tree a lot. I like the way it stands out on the path and looks interesting and surprising, despite the fact it obviously saw much better days.

You feel like you should be feeling sorry for it, but perhaps because it's so unique amongst all the others in this section of the wood (size, colour, shape and texture), I find it endearing.
