An unexpected new leaf!

I've been watching a new leaf develop on this rubber plant with great excitement as the plant is a cutting. It was  a shoot growing sideways from the parent plant and threatening to tip the whole thing over so I chopped it off and put it in compost with no great hopes for survival. I think the new leaf means it has developed roots and intends to survive.
