Public Transport
Full day in the Lake District today.
Set off earlyish to go and have a look at a few waterfalls and have a short walk. Next stop was Delegate Station. The train that runs from there to Ravenglass at 12.30 is a 15 gauge steam train. This weeks challenge word is PUBLIC. This was the best idea I could find while away for our 5th wedding anniversary, an old version of public transport.
The train was the Northern Rock, fully owned by the railway line and was built in their workshops in Ravenglass in 1976. It is a 15 gauge 2-6-2 engine.
I was unsure if it should be this version of the photo or the full colour one found here. Decided on this as it reminds me more of the photos from the era of steam.
From there it was up to Staveley for a visit and tour around the Hawkshead brewery before going back the hotel for a bit and then a flight of 3 beers (3x 1/3 of a pint samples) in the Swan hotel just over the road before bed.
