Mistletoe.

The mistletoe seems to like these two lopped trees. It is a parasite which lives off the host tree's nutrients without causing damage. Although there doesn't seem to be much to feed off here. They were blocking the light in two houses and were lopped a couple of years ago. Mistletoe prefers poplar, lime, hawthorn or cultivated apple trees. which are in open spaces with plenty of light. We do have quite a lot of poplars in our area with mistletoe
