Weather Station
This morning I attended an interesting U3A Zoom talk on musicals. This afternoon I installed my new upgraded weather station. We have quite unusual weather here with extremely dry summers, lots of gales, and the last two winters have been over twice as wet as average, so I've become quite interested in what's going on. It took a few attempts to get this sensor to link to the base station, but all working now. I also added some manure to the raised bed and dug it over ready to plant up.
Day 358 / Day 63 of Lockdown 3 / Day 2 of Step 1 of Roadmap out of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 231 to 124,797 (revised basis), with 5,766 new cases, 9,418 patients in hospital (lowest since end Oct), 1,356 on ventilation and 590 new admissions. 22.6m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 1.2m have had their second dose. Research published in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that in the lab, the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine should work against the P1 Brazil variant. Pfizer is planning a booster jab designed to combat the South African variant. The Nightingale hospitals are being closed from April. It''s being reported that the Olympics and Paralympic games this summer will be 'without overseas spectators' - sounds sensible to me. Four people from two households can now meet outdoors including in gardens in Scotland from Friday.
