Smoke signals
For Eoghan and all whose passing opens the heart to love and truth, and to the truth of love revealed by grief.
Last evening session of this retreat started as usual with a half hour meditation and, as sometimes happens, with a dedication to particular people who would benefit from loving support. Unusually (in our school) the meditation was more Vipassana in style, opening awareness to include whatever content arose in consciousness.
I was overtaken by grief before the dedication was even complete. I'd been out with the camera before we started and this scene made me think again of the death of a best loved brother. I'd also visited these posts on Blip from Ceridwen, Lovemy3dogs and loveeveryminute. So I was primed by and for heartbreak.
Eventually what emerged was a layer of scar tissue on this child's heart born into an ocean of ancestral grief way beyond her capacity to bear, beyond anyone's capacity to bear. Small wonder my first three posts on here were on the topic of love and loss.
Don't ever think anything you post on here is insignifcant.
It's all a gift, all a blessing that can open a heart, change a life.
