Bring in the big guns???

So, our house has not sold in 6 months. Whilst we are not desperate to leave our house there are so few houses come on the market in the village, and we have the potential to buy a couple in the area that we really want in the spring. If they don't work out though and we end up selling we will probably have to rent for potentially a few years until something "perfect" comes along. So, do we bring in the big guns (a property consultancy firm highly recommended by a friend) or just sit it out and see what happens?? No idea what to do with the best, and my "let's just see what happens" originally adopted doesn't seem to be working.
