The Flying Bedstead
I fancied a trip to the Science Museum, where I've not been for years, but also wanted to be outside if it was bright. Turns out I did both, as the sun was shining when I left the Museum so I cut through by the Albert Hall to Hyde Park, down along the Serpentine to Hyde Park Corner and Piccadilly, where I got the C2 bus that takes me all the way back to KTown.
The Flying Bedstead was a prototype vertical take-off and landing aircraft, which was tested in the 1950s. I was especially interested to find it as my Mother was a close friend in the 1960s of one of the test-pilots, and she sometimes told me interesting stories about the things he'd done.
I don't know if there was more than one prototype, but if not then he would have flown this one. I wonder if she knew it was there?
