Tidy

Another afternoon spent digging in the dirt! Cleared and dug over the small bed (on the right), dug the ash into the back bed, then attacked the fruit bed (on the left). First of all I lifted and replanted lots of daffodil bulbs then dug out the old raspberry canes, assorted deep-rooted weeds and some bushes spreading from the neighbour’s plot, then the hard work started. I don’t think that bit of ground had been dug over in twenty years and it’s solid clay. No wonder the rasps were struggling! Hopefully a liberal dose of compost and an introduction of worms from the compost bin will start to improve things and the new raspberry canes that are sitting quietly in the hut just now will take OK. Fingers crossed.
