Rockery

Today I worked in the garden for about five hours. Not all of it was hard work as I had to hold the ladder while Mr A repaired the felt on my shed roof; some had blown away in the wind. He then helped me to move some very large stones to complete the rockery and almost fell in the small pond; this was hard work as many of the stones are quite large. Mr A also cleared the blocked drain so although he was not out for as long as I was he probably worked a lot harder!

I took several pictures, but in the end decided on this one which shows the rockery behind the small pond. Once this has settled a little I shall put some compost in the gaps and probably plant alpines there. The small pond has a wire cover over it, which prevents the ducks, moorhens and coots from swimming in it. It is supposed to be for wildlife, although there does not appear to be much there at the moment and it also needs to be refilled.

Thanks for all your suggestions for a name for the unusual Mallard from yesterday. Mr A suggested 'Tuxy' and this was backed up by grandmapat who suggested 'Tuxedo', jensphotos who thought it looked as though he was wearing 'Tails' and lisa24270 who suggested 'Dicky' as he looked like he was wearing a bow tie. These four all suggest that he is an elegant Mallard, dressed for a black tie event, so he is now called Tuxy.
