New Zealand Scaup on Lake Te Anau. An endemic diving duck often found on the interior lakes of the South Island.

Today was a lazy day post-Kepler Track. I backblipped all morning and then spent the afternoon staring at scaup near the lakeshore across the street from my hostel in Te Anau. The sunset was brilliant, with streaky banks of clouds lighting up yellow-white over the mountains I'd just descended from the day before.

Doing nothing after walking for days is just as fulfilling as the walking itself.
