Today's the day ……………………… not to see a kingfisher

I sometimes wonder if I will ever see a kingfisher here - although I am assured that there is one to see - and this is the place where it might happen.

It certainly is just the right environment for a kingfisher.  A slowly meandering river with reedbeds and overhanging trees - and little fish of some description.  That rather dilapidated wooden shack is a bird hide from where you can apparently watch them land on that carefully placed twig, sticking out into the river.

Come to think of it though, if ever I did see a kingfisher here - I'd be so overcome with excitement, I'd never be cool enough to catch it on camera.  This could be as close as I ever get to a picture of that beautiful but elusive bird …………………..
