Railway remains
The section of the Trans Pennine Trail that we walk along most days is an old railway line that was closed by the Beeching cuts in the 1960's. Careful observation uncovers many remains from the infrastructure. This concrete post is situated half way up the rock face of part of the deep cutting along the route. It is very unlikely to have been part of a fence running along the rock face, so I think it might have carried signalling cables or the like.
Pilates this morning before completing the UPP Folio and taking it to the post office to send on to the next lucky recipient.
We chose to go out for this afternoon's walk just as a heavy shower started, so got wet as well as cold.
