Houses
22.02.21
I must have offended the house Gods in a previous life. I mean really, really massively pissed them off.
The estate agent - who I'm going to call Mrs S. Not because that's her name but because it stands for her performance as an an estate agent. And her communication skills, attitude, and relationship with the truth.
Shit. - called me this morning to say there was going to be a slight delay as the buyer wasn't going to get his mortgage survey done until Friday - THE DAY WE WERE SUPPOSED TO COMPLETE.
To say I was cross was an understatement. What the f**k??
What the actual f**ck??????????
I signed a contract agreeing to eight weeks on December 29th (which meant completion should have been tomorrow, but the agent didn't do any paperwork until January 4th which meant the completion date was Sunday 28th, but obviously you can't complete on a Sunday so the solicitor was working towards Friday this week.)
So to ring me on Monday and tell me he's not getting his survey done until Friday - though not unexpected - tipped me over the edge.
I went mad. Proper shouting down the phone mad!
And rather than apologising and being even vaguely conciliatory, she shouted back.
OMFG.
She kept saying that we'd always known there was the chance of a delay "due to COVID" and he couldn't get his survey done sooner due to COVID and it was OK because they'd taken extra deposit.
"So What?!!!!!" I shouted at her. Taking extra deposit doesn't mean he can take all the time he wants, or mean that no-one has to stay in touch with me to let me know what's going on.
She said Due to Covid one too many times and I bellowed at her STOP SAYING DUE TO COVID!!!!!!!!!!!
He bought the house in the middle of the pandemic, days before we went back into lockdown, He knew about f*****g COVID when he signed the contract and agreed to complete in eight weeks.
Due to f*****g COVID! Oh my God!!!!!!!
She said the Memorandum of Sale clearly mentioned the possibility of delays due to COVID. She seriously said it again.
I asked her to send it to me and highlight the relevant clause.
And then I hung up.
She emailed me the Memorandum of Sale which said completion was due in eight weeks.
And nothing else.
FFS
I emailed the solicitor who went through my options. I can issue a Notice to Complete which gives him 14 days to complete or forfeit his deposit (remember how well that went last time???????) I said I'm not unreasonable and he can have another week to sort his finances out. After that there will be penalties.
Then we walked into town to get coffee. But the coffee shop is shut on Mondays. Probably due to COVID.........
Press conference tonight outlining the "roadmap out of Lockdown". Back to school on March 8th, yay.
Annoyingly we still can't get together with my mum and dad on Mother's Day, or mum's 70th, or my birthday, or Miss E's birthday.
And the camping trip we've got booked for the first week of the Easter holidays has to be rearranged as we won't be able to go away until at least April 12th.
But it looks as if we're at least going in the right direction.
