Frilly skirts......

.... and butterfly wings were just two of the things that this fungus brought to mind. I didn't venture far on my quest for a photograph today as I didn't find the lack of light very inviting. I suppose the sun must have been shining somewhere beyond the thick layer of grey cloud that covered the sky immediately above us.
