Churn and Flow
Final day of the Animal Soul retreat.
Started with Mary Oliver:
"You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine."
And ended with Johnny Cash!
In between: an exploration of how our animal needs were met (and not) in infancy, how those imprints show up in our desires and addictions, and our reactions to frustration now.
Later, just after sundown I walked out to the furthest extent of the ebbing Spring tide. To where the kelp forest was torn up by the heavy machinery building the sea defences for the new swimming pool.
Extra 1: Flow
Extra 2: New angle on the pool structure.
Extra 3: Torn crab claw, I imagine by the tracks of the heavy machines, so we humans may swim in comfort ... so sad. It's as big as my hand, stashed in the garden shed which now smells of death.
