Pubs we can't drink in...

Another from a series of pubs in Rye we can't drink in, although I've never set foot in the Borough Arms. Apparently started its life as some kind of storage facility on the docks, was a customs house for a bit, boat auction house for a bit, and didn't become a pub until sometime in the 18th century, with varying degrees of success. Mostly a B&B these days.
There are stories of men getting very drunk and then falling down those steep steps on the way out and injuring or killing themselves.
