More Railway Walking
Yesterday we walked down our hill and when we got to the old railway we turned right, following the track towards town, in the sun. Today, at the bottom of our hill, I turned left and followed the disused track north. Going this way it is much more in the forest, though I chose to blip a section looking out over snow covered fields and meadows. It may have been mostly above freezing for almost two weeks but there is still plenty of snow.
I love these days when the sun shines but when there are clouds about too. There is a strange and slightly exhilarating reversal where the sky is darker than the ground!
This old railway track, which saw it's last train ten years ago, runs through some lovely countryside. We can walk (or ski) this section because the snow scooter club keep it clear of trees along the track. Further along it is so overgrown it is hard to even walk there. I hope the local council get to realise the plan for a walking and cycling trail, and that they do it while I'm still fit enough to enjoy it!!
I followed the track for about 3.5 kms, just past an exciting bridge where the sleepers and track are laid on a metal framework, so you can see between the sleepers to the stream 10m below. (See extra.)
