Project 365 day 60: Lockdown Birthday

Last year, we celebrated my daughter's birthday at a local animation festival, then returned home to share the obligatory ganache coated chocolate cake with a friend. We knew we were preparing to isolate very soon, watching the number of infections climb with growing anxiety about her susceptibility to a respiratory virus. This year, we shared the cake on Zoom, where her cousins, aunts and uncles joined us with their own chocolate cakes and candles. She had hoped for a party for this year's big birthday, and still hopes there may be scope for a more sociable celebration later in the year; but it's been a nice day. The astonishing rainbow flowers remain a mystery, having arrived by post without a card; we hope Facebook may provide an answer.
