Thirty No More

Why are weekends more tiring that workdays?

Well it's a very simple answer really. Children!

During the weeks the saints at JJ's nursery and C's school take care of the little devils angels, whilst we go out to earn some money.

This weekend my wife has legged it off to a school reunion, and will not be back until Sunday afternoon, leaving me as the sole responsible adult.

Last night the instruction for C before he went to bed was simple and straight forward. "It's Saturday tomorrow, so we can have a lie in. So do not wake me up."

6 o-bloody-clock this morning he snuck into my room with a cuddly monkey, then he came in again just before 7. "Daddy, when are you getting JJ up?"

Strangely enough he seemed very confused when I said, "when he wakes up".

So shower grabbed, and then lo and behold the noise that C was making did wake JJ up (I like the believe it was the noise that his elder brother was making and not the fact that he had done a poo in his nappy).

So both up, downstairs and weetabix for the pair of them.

All the time JJ yawned his head off, so back to bed by about 8.30.

Now, we did actually have something to do today - which was probably why C woke me up. We went round to JJ's nursery to make Mothers day stuff.

Needless to say, having had to wake John up in order to go round (and to change a second nasty nappy of the day), he was not best pleased at being there. He just wanted cuddles from the staff.

But fear not, I had a cunning plan for my sanity. After the craft morning was finished (around 11am) we would depart to the nearest Weatherspoon's for a second breakfast. I was not banking though on C being a) not hungry, and b) tired.

So instead back to home, to then have to cook something for JJ (and C anyway).

JJ back down for a nap, and the sun came out as did the crocus's.

Tried to use my extension tubes on my SLR to convert my normal lens into a macro; but the camera was having none of it. I need to find my manual to remember what on earth I need to switch to get it to work.

Luckily my zoom lens does also have a limited Macro option, so managed to get a bit closer to the action.

JJ slept on until 2, and then awoke to (yup you guessed it) another pooey nappy. Walk round the park and back to the house via the shop for bread.

Several slices of eggy bread later (French toast to the uninitiated), tried to put him down for a nap and it wasn't working, so got him up bathed him, more food, milk and then bed. Somewhere in there we had stinky nappy #4 of the day (he is teething by the way), so he really needed that bath.

C lasted until about 7.30 before saying he was too tired to even turn the TV off for me.

So he's now in bed, and hopefully he will stay in it beyond 6am tomorrow morning.

I am really beginning to look forward to my beer holiday in October, more for a break from the kids than the beer infact.

I don't mind dealing with one (either of them), but together (especially when one of them only wants to eat and sleep) they are deadly.

So, cider in my pint glass, and debating a DVD before bed.

Hopefully tomorrow will be easier to deal with them both.
