Unhurried Harrier
We had a wonderful walk at Wicken Fen this afternoon, late afternoon. The sunset was particularly spectacular.
The person in the visitor centre said there was a chance of seeing a hen harrier coming in at dusk, so we hung around. After the sun went down, in the dusky light it got colder and colder. A few of the other folks hanging around left. Just as we were about to give up, a wonderful soaring bird came into sight. It slowly circled the fen crossing once and then disappeared.
I have loads of shots of a blobby 'bird of prey' shaped bird and a very warm glow inside my heart, despite the below freezing temperature. I've dedicated the bird to memory and blipped you the sun as it was going down, it really did have those bands of colour.
