This made me smile. Everyone has dreams of VW vans at some time in their lives don't they? We certainly did and in fact purchased one when we were young and foolish carefree! See extra - here it is in it John Deere colours, yes purchased from someone with farming connections, circa 1978. We had plans to renovate it and take off into the sunset in the general direction of Portugal. We got as far as Warwick - Himself being offered a job as Education Officer in the County museum - and we stayed there for nearly 25 years! The van did not last as long. I think we sold it for a Peugeot 5! The van conversion is in the blood for both sons are now into it - Joe's business and a nice article for Mercedes, and Will is currently converting his own beast. We never did get to Portugal.
