a cryptic moment

I was reading up on the camouflage of Flickers. It seems they use two types of defense against their predators. One is cryptic camouflage where they blend into their surroundings, and the other is the startling colorful flash of their underwings when they take off. Here this male Northern Red-shafted Flicker being very still and cryptic.
