Cannonball House.

On the right of these steps is Cannonball House which faces the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.
It was said that a cannonball was fired from the Castle to repel Jacobite forces in 1745 and embedded itself in the outer wall. 
At least that’s what the tourist’s are told.
Think the truth is that it was put there by city 
engineers to indicate the gravitational height of piped water supply brought from Comiston Hill to supply The Old Town reservoir nearby.
Anyway it is a restaurant now but haven’t tasted it’s delight’s yet.
