Plaza

To me, arches conjuror up dark, brickish places near railway stations. Meeting under the arches for a post-conference beer in Villa de Leyva was therefore a pleasant exercise in recalibration, particularly when three swallows swooped in and settled high up in a corner.

The view was also somewhat more gratifying than railway sidings, consisting of South America's largest plaza surrounded by white-washed houses and a solid, Andean, darkness stretching up behind them.
