It felt good to be alive today. Wall to wall sunshine and perfect weather for an amble with a friend.
I met Kipsie at Hackney Marshes and we strolled along towards Newton Abbot, pausing frequently to admire the birds and rodents! Wherever there are bird feeders, there are brown rats. A whole family of them were out in force today.
The kingfishers were being coy again but K did manage to get a shot of the female as she perched momentarily on a cone washed down the channel.
The tide was extremely low due to the full moon, so fishing opportunities were very limited.
An egret, further down stream, caught a tasty morsel, shrimp, I think.
We had a very lucky escape as we crossed the bridge to Town Quay.
A young swan, returning upstream, dipped low under the power lines and flew right over our heads. We managed to duck out of the way as it jettisoned its digested breakfast!
