Mermaid's Purse.

Found this up on the grass above the beach from when we must have had a high tide or surge tide.  Don't think they're a rare find but haven't noticed any for a long time.  This one is dry and crisp but the opening showing is where a shark or ray emerged to start its life at sea.  Let's face it it was probably a ray/skate.
