Snowdrops!
I went for a late afternoon walk to a spot nearby known for its snowdrops. I wasn’t sure if it was too late in the day to get any good shots but I was somewhat happy with what I got. See Extra photo for a few more, as well as some of the other flowers and some sunset pictures! It was a warm afternoon and I was even able to put the top down on my car for the short journey home!
In other news:
Today was the first day for the 2021 Cross Country skiing World Championships taking place in Obersdorf, Germany, Feb 25-Mar 7. Today’s races were sprints. It’s challenging because the temperature was high which changes the condition of the snow. The technicians change the amount and type of wax on the skis based on the weather and snow conditions, both of which sometimes change during the course of the race, so everyone hopes they got it right. If the waxing decisions are wrong the best skiers can do really badly. Sadly, the American team didn’t do well today, but I was happy that most of the Swedish team did really well, with Jonna Sundling getting a gold in the women’s final.
I’m looking forward to these days ahead! It’s been a strange year with some of the races being cancelled and some teams deciding not to take part in earlier races because of Covid.
I was so tired this evening I went to bed at 830 and actually slept most of the night! (Hence the lateness of my blip!)
