WFH. I finally got around to sorting out a GPS time source for the piccolo system. One of the drawbacks of the raspberry pis is that they don't come with a battery backed clock. So the system starts with the wrong date/time when off the network. One of the neatest ways of dealing with that is to use a GPS chip that not only gets location but also accurate time. The GPS chip sends the information over a serial connection to the pi. All fairly straight forward. It did require me getting the soldering iron out and attaching the posts for the breadboard.
Quick walk at lunchtime to Prestonfield House. One of the peacocks obliged perching on a window sill. Just imagine walking up and one of those guys looking in...
