A double stone marks the entrance to the Gulik-Gelre harbor in the Juliana Canal. It is an industrial port with container storage. Cranes that lift the containers from the ships.
There are also many Rhine tunnels sailing on our waterways. In the background is a pusher with a container.

A large Rhine vessel, also known as the Rhine barge, is an inland vessel designed for waterways.

A large Rhine vessel can transport a maximum of 1500 to 4200 tons and has a draft of 2.70 to 3.60 meters. These ships have a length of 95 to 135 meters and a beam of 11.45 meters. There are also ships up to a width of 17.40 meters and a tonnage of 5200 tons.

On the photo is a pushed barge, this is an inland vessel that is built and intended to be pushed by another vessel and therefore does not require a crew during navigation, unlike when coupling and uncoupling. Most barges do not have their own propulsion or steering system. Because they do not have their own crew, the accommodations for this are missing.
