One Happy Pig

This is our garden bench. It comes out of Zambia, Africa and is made from a local tree.
It weighs about 300 kilograms, which is quit a lot for its size.
Except the legs, these are made of an old Indonesian garden bench and the wood is meranti.
The bench was made as part of a bigger project for teaching the local population all kind of skills for providing in their vital needs. The tools were gathered here in Holland by Gered Gereedschap, a non-profit organization , and with the help of Geschenk Met Verhaal, as well as the teachers. The project resulted in new houses, water wells, a school and a small hospital.

If anybody thinks to know the name of the african tree, please let me know. It is a tree without bark.
