I sold my house!!
And for £10K more than they offered originally! Not like me to barter, but these are desperate times for me financially... and with the higher price I can pay off all my debts, and have a bit left over to stave off homeless destitution for a little while longer at least!!
It is being bought by the tenants - the most wonderful tenants ever... they've painted the whole house, mended fences and windows, etc (I've just paid for materials) - and best of all created this wonderful garden... when we moved there in 2005 it was basically a builders scrapyard... We had a lawn put down and Hilary started to populate the borders a bit, but what it looks like now is wonderful...
They've wanted to buy the house for a while, but haven't been able to raise enough funds for a mortgage... a while ago the husband was injured at work, and the compensation was enough to be able to proceed... so here we are!!
This morning I got a text confirming they are willing to pay the higher price... still not really market value for a beautiful house, but enough to make it a no-brainer, even taking into account the loss of £600 / month rent...
Extra shows the kitchen / diner with range cooker, underfloor heating, etc. Along with the elation at selling it for decent-ish price, there is a degree of sorrow at finally officially losing what was a beautiful home - though in reality it hasn't been ours (or mine) since 2007... and apart from the night burning my teaching notes when I left teaching for educational publishing (little did I know I'd be back a year later, tail between my legs), I can't remember too many happy memories - it was a time of stress and tension, looking back...
Mike is here now, had a good evening chatting.
MRI tomorrow.
