Sunbury Walled Garden

L3 Day 67 Cycled to the Walled Garden in Sunbury. This was built as part of Sunbury Park in 18C and was restored in 1980/90. There is a Victorian Rose Garden and a Knot Garden. There is a interesting memorial to the actor Eric Porter - Forsyth Saga, Jewel in the Crown etc. who died in 1995. The inscription says he was a Middle Saxon all his life ( from Middlesex! ). Also the big lion on a plinth is a memorial to two soldiers from Sunbury who died in action in Africa in 1893/94. There is also an Embroidery Gallery which in ‘normal ‘ times has an exhibition and runs courses.
