Blackbird

This morning I noticed just how many ground feeding Birds regularly visit our Garden to feed, explore and generally hang-out!  A Grey Wagtail, A Thrush, Blackbirds ( sufficient for a small pie), Strutting Wood Pigeons, Spadgers, Two Robins, A Dunnock or two, and a small flock of Starlings. And there's the Magpies and Squirrels. I thought what's different?
Two years ago I was still at Work so not at Home thinking such thoughts.
A Year ago I was focused on walking daily.
The Third difference, of course is Lockdown. Which in turn decided the minds of our Lovely Next Door Neighbours(NDN) to seek a better Life in Denmark in December 2020. I wish them all the Best.
I remember glimpsing their new Kitten Mozart when he first arrived Home 2 years ago. He was stunning, a fine profile with blonde eyebrows and amber eyes. His coat was a marble swirl of copper, orange and cream. He grew Bold and Adventurous, climbing trees in pursuit of Squirrels and Magpies; how they laughed at him, and we did too!
We watched him boldly approach a young fox who, still playful, engaged in a game of chase, a delightful scene.
Mostly Mozart's energy focused on being fully alert, constantly prowling, looking and listening for his next prey. I called him many names, Mozart the Mutilating Marauder, El Cacciatore and others..
He conquered Wood Pigeons, Blackbirds, Frogs and Mice. I heard he's living in a Flat in Copenhagen. I hope he's having a nice life.  I know the wildlife of The Henconner's can sleep, feed and hang-out more easily these days.
The Blackbird has his beak open, I heard him sing today. Dia dhuit!
