Sulphur-crested Cockatoos
As I crossed the bridge at Canterbury today two enormous birds flew high overhead, sending the pigeons and ibises into a frenzy. I think they were a pair of white-bellied sea eagles, which have a wingspan of around 2 metres. A pair nest further inland at Olympic Park under 24 hr sea eagle cam surveillance. The nest is empty - it’s not the breeding season yet.
These cockatoos were sedately munching dandelions by the path when I took a late morning stroll along the river.
Thanks for hosting Cailleach.
