It’s just a couple of days till Mrs K finishes work and joins me in the ranks of non-employed. We reckon, between us, we’ve amassed about 80 years of service, so we’re looking forward to taking a break before our next adventure .... as yet unknown. And this chair is where I catch up on reading whilst Mrs K works late in the evenings, making sure everything is up-to-date and left in good order. I’m really enjoying re-reading Le Carre’s Smiley books and I love the descriptor of him offered in the Guardian; Smiley is ... “the sort of spy Britain believes it ought to have: a bit shabby, academic, basically loyal, and sceptical of the enthusiasms of his political masters.”
