Black Headed Gull
My walk in the lovely Spring-like sunshine today took me up to one of my favourite areas, the Wigan Local Nature Reserve at Hawkley, near Wigan.
The Black Headed Gulls have the run of Ochre Flash at the moment, as sadly the two resident Swans were killed last week by a dog that caught them on the frozen lake, and neither Swan would leave one another.
They had been there for over 25 years according to a local who looked out for them, and the Flash seems empty without their graceful presence.
Hopefully soon, more than the Gulls will call Ochre Flash their home.
