Food shop
We often bump into two boys who sell chewing gum on the street and have a few words with them (my Arabic is so poor that I am usually reduced to nodding, smiling, and contributing a word or two).
When we met them today, they told us that they were struggling to make much money and that their families were unable to buy enough food. At my friend's suggestion, we brought the boys to a nearby grocery store and bought them some fruit and vegetables.
Having let the boys go wild, choosing tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines, courgettes, peppers, oranges, etc., the bill still came to less than ?4. Just goes to show how little some people have to make do with here.
