Tree with hair?

What a lovely day, the sun was shining and it was a great day for ( another) walk. Slightly further afield and half way between us and No1. We took a picnic and sat on a tree stump in the sun. What a difference to last week. Lovely to catch up and lots of chatting.

There were lots of people around but we kept off the main routes and walked through the woods where I spotted this tree stump with growth spurting out the top, like hair. The area suffered in the 1987 storm and many of the oaks are rotting on the ground but probably a great habitat for wildlife.

The walk would only have been improved if the pub had been open and we could have finished off with half a cider in the sun. Maybe next time?
