Day 4 - Almost Finished

The wall is progressing.  Not as fast as yesterday, because Mrs SoL was occupied with the bonfire of garden waste which we had been authorised by the local Maire (he has to give the green light and only for a 48-hour window).  So, while she was trying to get it going in the strong winds (not too much success - glad we have tomorrow as well), I moved some of the larger stones into place to tie the walls together.  Slower, due to the size and weight of the big flat ones.  The stone at the top by the small gap is, I think, the remnant of an old stone trough.  It will serve well as a cornerstone acting as a capstone though.  The pile of stones to the right is pretty much all we have left, along with smaller ones for in-fill.  Mrs SoL had planted the laurel along the wall we completed a few weeks ago.  She will do the same with the wall currently under construction/repair.  I intend to use old ‘shin-pad’ roof tiles as a waterproofing top along the roadside wall; if there are enough, I will continue along the newer wall.  Onwards and sideways.
