A heart for us all...
I had a wonderful FaceTime call with an ex-work colleague and friend today.
We were well overdue a catch up and it was so wonderful not just to see her lovely face but hear her voice as well. Oh how I miss voices. We were both shocked when I mentioned that it will be nine years in May since I left the world of work behind. Almost a decade yet it feels like a couple of years at most. Such happy days, stressful too, but definitely happy. I count myself so lucky that the last 13 years of my working life was in a role I felt so passionate about, I would have done it for free if I could have afforded to do so.
After that lovely chat I set about making some crochet love hearts, one of which will be a part of the engagement card I am making for my Goddaughter Emily and her fiancé Sam. We are having a zoom get together with them tomorrow night along with Emily's mum and dad (our best friends Agnes & Adrian) and Emily's two aunts and uncles (one on her mum's side and the other on her dad's) Its the closest thing we can get to a proper engagement celebration at the moment and I'm really looking forward to it.
So for the most part a lovely day, till we heard the saddest news that a friend's friend has passed away from Covid. She was only 32 and she was 15 weeks pregnant. She had no underlying health conditions and she leaves behind a husband and two year old son. An absolute tragedy.
So I am dedicating my little crochet heart not just to Emily & Sam in celebration of their engagement, but to all who have lost loved ones and those whose lives have been affected by and changed by this pandemic in one way or another. And that's all of us. All plodding along, getting through as best we can. A heart and love to you all <3
