East Hills

I was really sad to learn from lovenature this evening that the artist that we both admire so much, Nicholas Barnham, has died. He was a such a part of Norfolk for me that we would often remark on a view or a boat and say, ‘that’s such a Barnham view’. He was an incredible looking man. He seemed to have emerged from the landscapes he painted.
This is one of Nicholas’s pictures, above the fireplace, it’s of East Hills, near Wells, and was a wedding present. We went on an expedition out across the marshes to East Hills on our honeymoon; a great adventure!
It feels like yet another bit of Norfolk lost but his work will certainly always endure for me as well as many other threads of interconnectedness.
