Smardale
More computer Admin, sore eyes, and fire finally ordered for the Hut.
A wild walk called for somewhere sheltered. We decided we try the new link up between Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Smardale and Green Rigg reserves.
I got Mrs IttH to drop me at the top of the raised walkway so I could walk down to the car park without Missy and might see some wildlife. And I did. As soon as I opened the gate I saw a long red tail looping down from a feeder.
Camera ready I approached stealthily... 30ft...20ft...finally less than 6ft. As I raised the camera he suddenly stood straight up and alert alert... But looking in the other direction... Then he shot off spectacularly fast as a lady and her dog crashed out of the undergrowth. I got this shot of him, but no closer than our reds get at home.
