Everyday I Write The Book

Rear window

Our neighbour opposite has had this in her window for the last nine months or so. Painted by her daughter who was a child when lockdown started but who is now a young woman. I exaggerate only slightly, it feels so long.

I had another really busy day in my corner of the NHS and was also struggling with headaches and fatigue. Better come evening. We watched Rear Window, which like most Hitchcock films has aged well but becomes stranger and more haunting with the passage of time; I think it is due to the slightly voyeuristic quality that all his movies had. So many of them were about people intruding on someone else’s life and uncovering the strangeness and the claustrophobia of another’s existence.

After that we had a fit of late night cleaning, completely unplanned and very effective. I hate waking up to a messy house ... plus you never know who might be looking in the window...
